You go to the sims resource board and post a subject that says "HHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" And then you write in the message content. I dOnt n0 wErE tO pUT d0WnL0dZ cEn NE1 HEEEELLLPPP? ??!!!! In spite of their being a sticky at the top telling where to put them and 10 other threads about it where people already gave the answer. Sorry, couldn't resist. That question is kind of like the HEEEEELLLLPPP!!! YELOWWW EXCLEMATION POINTS!!! was for Morrowind. ;D

Sarky sod! However, thanks for the advice! I can do absolutely nothing with this game. I suspect that Cali was right and that I need to buy the Prima Guide as the included documentation is almost worthless. You're a clever lad Mo. Here's a question for you. I'd like to change the clothing for a Sim who is currently living, albeit not very well, in a house. There's nothing in any documentation I've seen that allows me to do that. So, how's it done?

The prima guide definitely helps. Especially if you haven't played the first game since a lot of the mechanics are similar, but I played the first game and still found quite a bit I didn't know about in the guide too. I'd definitely reccomend it. To change clothes you have to go downtown to a community lot and buy some. To do that click on your phone and choose transportation, then taxi (it doesn't cost anything; wish real taxis were like that!) it will ask you if you just want one character or others in the family to go, so you decide that, then when the taxi comes, get in. You'll be back in the neighborhood map and will be able to go to a "community lot", there will be a blue square around those lots on the map so those are the ones you can go to. Not all sell clothing, but you should be able to tell which ones do by the description. I'm in Veronaville and always go to Stratford Strip, but not sure which ones in the other neighborhoods sell clothing. Anyhow, once you get there, click on the clothing rack and choose "buy". There's an option to try stuff on, but the buy option lets you preview the clothes before you buy anyway so I don't even bother with try on (unless I want my sims to have sex in public in the fitting room but that's a WHOLE other story ) You'll get a buy menu, then you can highlight and preview the items on the mannequin. When you see something you like, hit the little shopping cart icon and then it ads it to your cart, and you will see a check mark by it on the buy menu; that means it's in your cart. If you see some items with a little square dresser icon in the corner that means you already own the item and have it in your closet. You'll want to buy at least two of any particular type of item (ie 2 casual outfits, 2 underwear sets etc) because due to a bug (?) you need more than one outfit of a particular type to change clothes. Before you leave the lot if there is a grocery store you may also want to pick up some food on the way home, though that's not necessary as you can also have it delivered. When you get home, you may get a message about putting the items in your closet or some such thing. You will need a dresser if you don't already have one (I think they are under miscellaneous items?) So get one of those. Then have your sim click on it and "plan oufit" and choose the type you want to change (everyday, swimwear etc). You can also update your facial appearance and refresh your character's icon after putting on a new outfit by using a mirror to "change appearance".

Thanks for the complete answer Mo. Now why wasn't all that somewhere in the manual that came with the game? (Oops, maybe it is........... ) I'm not paying out for a guide that should, by righjts, have been included in the nifty box with the game in! I'll go off to the Sims Forum and lurk for a few days and see what I can glean from there. Maybe, even, you never know, I'll come and post a picture here. Just don't hold your breath!

Well in that case they sell it online, but there is a free chapter (chapter 6 I believe) that you can preview on their site: estore.primagames.com/eguide_detail.aspx?prodid=EA1838(click the "look inside") Also Gamespot has their own online guide that's free: www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/thesims2/index.html?q=sims(look for the "game guide"; if you don't already have one, you'll have to create a login but it's free to do so) I probably could have found most of the info in the Prima guide online if I really looked around, but I just kind of prefer to have a hard copy book I can refer to while I am playing the game.

That GamepSpot link is really useful. The problem is that, in order to get the Guide download you have to subscribe, (like PAY!) There is a viewable guide which covers all the early stuff I need there though. Sooooo, copy each page one after another into WordPad, delete the twee pictures, shift the whole thing into Word -> 56 pages! Change all text to Arial 8pt, change the margins to 1cm -> 21 pages. Currently printing as we 'speak'! Anyway, thanks again for the link mate.

Oh I didn't realise that. Someone else already did that, copied it to word, and posted a link on another board. I guess I should have realised that and posted that link too. I didn't think to. Too late now. Sorry.
