Thanks a lot...hmm, yes MYREALBOX DID tell me today that I was infected...but I did not know by what (I mean Norton usually tells me...thanks Motoki, no hard feeling (only a complete desktop crash, hard-drive meltdown and monitor explosion, but on the bright side I still have a body...no head though)... ;D

Ugh, I've spent the better part of the evening trying to purge this stupid virus from my computer so I don't have to reformat. Over 1,000 files were infect and I still have a few that are trickily tucked away in the same folder the control panel uses that I don't have access too

What method of disinfection have you used? Haven't got this virus (yet), always interested in what they do. Worst one I ever had munched exe files. Since then, I back up programs in zip format to stop that ever happening again.
Do you have an admin account? You may need it to totally remove the thing.

I do have an admin account, AVG keeps detecting them but won't remove them because they are in that folder and I can't access them. I'll try Norton.

Also this one is a really recent virus, literally from a couple of days ago. My virus scanners didn't detect it at first either until I updated them with a new virus definition from yesterday so make sure you guys do that.

Well mine is up to date, just scanned and only found an adware thing. Then i did adaware and found a tracking cookie now i'm running spybot. Nothing found so far usually the adware ones find no end of things so i'm pleasantly surprised. Spoke too soon it's found some cdilla stuff, i recognise the name but can't think what it is. Am i confusing it with the licensing wotsit? i vaguely remember having to download some licence software to be able to use something else but my addled brain can't think what it was.

I know, it's kind of disturbing to me too how Ad Aware and Spybot always manage to find stuff.

Their very sneaky aren't they. You know the boxes you check if you don't want to get mail from a site well i've noticed some of them now say if you do want mail check the box. I wonder how many people they get that way who don't bother to read it properly.

Cdilla is the license key management system for 3dsmax. I highly recommend setting spybot so it ignores c-dilla (you do this in excludes). It would be a bad idea to remove c-dilla as it would most likely stop 3dsmax from working. Of course, I also recommend you use something like Zonealarm Firewall to stop it accessing the internet and 'phoning home'! For major virus alerts, go to this page and download Stinger: vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/Mcafee update this program to deal with major viruses ONLY. It's not a general antivirus program, it's a dedicated cleaner specifically for certain high profile viruses (listed on the page).

Speaking of virus, I got to work this morning and aparently the entire network has been infected with a trojan virus. I guess it doesn't pay to skimp on your network protection.......or employee poor quality compter tech's.

Was this your outgoing email or the incoming one from Discreet?
If it was the outgoing I'd worry as it may mean that you've got something nasty on board. Done an upgrade definitions and scan recently?
If it was the incoming that may mean that Discreet have a problem and maybe, being the kind soul you are, you should tell 'em.

It was the outgoing What happens is it tells you to copy and paste the registration page into the email, so i did. I'll run a scan again later, but really my computers like fort knox so i can't see it being me with the problem.
