And there was me thinking he was a miracle worker or something.

He's a pain in the proverbials! I had a loooong discussion with him about what I should do to prepare for the 'operation'. He said to take *all* my data files off. Five CDs of data copied off today. When he arrived he said that he wouldn't do the work as he planned to install Windows on the new drive, (which he hadn't got!), leaving all the data on the existing drive so that 'I wouldn't have to copy all the data off!'
He's a really nice chap but bloody useless! Maybe Wednesday? Vamos a ver. Portuguese for 'we will see'.
This is off topic corner yes? OK, I heard something today which may make you guys smile. I was watching a man with an agricultural sprayer painting his house. He had masked off the doors and windows and loaded the tank on the back of his tractor with thin whitewash. Fired up the engine and blasted the whole thing in white. Grass, bushes, the roof, himself all covered in whitewash. His wife was screaming at him to stop! Anyway later I met him as he was peeling the paper off the doors and windows. He said that he just needed a quick job 'Só para Inglese ver.' Portuguese for 'Just for the English to see'! Apparently it's a common phrase which means the equivalent of 'Papering over the cracks' and comes from a visit to Lisbon by some royal chap in Elizabethan times. The king told the residents of Lisbon that they had to paint their houses for this visit, but just the fronts, Só para Inglese ver!
Back on topic. That's a cool website Cali. I must have missed the bedroll and kitchen mod. Maybe before we met up on this site?

Wait a second, didn't I hear one of them about the Moors being in the south....I heard it on NPR, but it was supposed to be some type of phrase like not while the moors remain in the South...I'm sorry, I can't remember, and I take french....but since I speak Romanian, I can UNDERSTAND what you say, but can't say much... ;D
"yo no hablo espagnol" "Mais, je parle francais un peu, c'est tres facile et je n'a pas du probleme"

I should imagine so they've been about for a while now.
That's a mad way to paint your house, perhaps that's what you should have tried with yours the other day ;D

You're right Bravo. All these roman languages are much the same. Mind you the Portuguese and Spaniards have been fighting each other for so long so they just *will not* understand each other! Any Spanish spoken on TV always has subtitles but theu don't bother if the speaker is speaking Italian! As far as the North/South divide. This place is odd, they all talk about 'minha terra', 'my land'. What they really mean, I think, is that their own bit of Portugal is the real Portugal. I have a Portuguese brother-in-law who comes from the north of Portugal. He says that anywhere south of Lisbon is Africa! So, Cali, when you went to The Algarve for you holiday, he would say you have yet to go to Portugal! Err, WEBSITES.

Hmm...you like to dance close to the fire...DO NOT TELL THE ADMIN WHAT TO DO...j/k...so, WEBSITES...hmm: what do you all think of the Mod Database? I used to camp out there...but not anymore...*moved here*
Now anyone else wanna say something about websites or shall we rename this thread to "General Discussion?" Hey, that's not a bad idea...shall we make a new one, and w can go there and talk...

Well i have thought before that we need a rambling thread, just so we can talk about whatever. It usually degenerates into it anyway, that or Terry Pratchett ;D

So do we start a ramble thread or just do it where ever?

I think a separate ramble thread would be fun. That is if we could keep the rambles out of the other threads!

*returns from lunch*
Ramble thread it is!
But let us draw a line between rambling and sp@m...no not you Mebyon (I noticed you carry quite intelligent conversations), but for the posters who feel inclined to raise their post count with one-word posts and such...
