I wondered why sometimes it took a long time for the screen to update. It seems that the problem is that the firewall is busy stopping someine poking around on my machine. Here's the latest message:
04/04/2004 01:37:29 Port Scan Minor Incoming TCP 81.193.155.106 20-53-52-43-00-00 81.193.30.180 44-45-53-54-00-00
It looks like I've got the address of the perpetrator. Is there anyting I can do with it?

How do you get the message does it pop up?

No. Sygate Personal Firewall. Freeeeee! There's a sort of two-way arrow icon in the taskbar. When it goes red with a cross on it I can open a window to see what's happening and then I can grab the latest alert message. It's normally quite painless and just does it's job without bugging me!
I jst wondered if I could send the address to someone who could rap a knuckle or two!

No idea these sorts of things are more in HWW's domain. Although hopperfly seems to know a bit as well.
They're never around when you need them are they? I'm pretty sure HWW must be moving to his new place as he's never been gone this long before.

Err...I know how to ban people off this forum, but that's about all I can do with an IP... Just so you know, it can be even from acessing a random site or a popup...and have you tried Ad-aware 6, it's what I use to find spyware!

Thanks Bravo. I had a Spybot program which found a load of 'bad things' but Ad Aware found 37 new ones! I've knocked them off and we'll see whether that makes any difference.
