I live in Lancashire, but was born a Yorkshireman - and I haven't moved either...the authorities just moved the county boundaries around me Oh, and Cali - I'm a night person...not as in 'cheeldren ov de night', more as in 'freelance artist, so I work when I feel most creative', which in my case is usually the middle of the night for some reason Seems I tend to live roughly on US time - which means if I moved to the US I'd probably end up working on Australian time...if I kept moving like that, I might eventually start living in yesterday

Calislahn, the three mile limit for DSL is real, not a ploy.
Digitial signals over copper wire (which is what DSL involves) can't pass through telephone company repeaters to be boosted (which isn't the case for analog signals such as voice, which require repeaters). The actual physical range of a digital signal over copper is three miles before it must be passed to a digital-friendly medium (like fiber optic), or fade beyond recall. So if you live further than three miles from a C.O., forget about DSL.
In this case, they aren't just blowing smoke in order to jack up rates, they're telling the truth. Weird, huh?

Telling the truth, wonders never cease ;D I'm still fairly certain that they must have installed it for the factories which are much nearer to me than the exchange, i'm sure they didn't do it especially for me, although it would be nice to think so
