That's good that you got it sorted out Meb. I'd say record to wav then convert to mp3. I think some of the newer software will even record straight to mp3. wavs take up too much space and mp3s seem to be the way to go. Then you could even get one of those small portable mp3 players. I have one and they are nice, they are very small and portable and don't skip and the ones out now can hold a lot more songs than the old one I have. Of course, unless you have some of those rare vinyls that were never re-recorded to CD, you can download these all already in mp3 format from file sharing. I don't see that there is anything wrong with that seeing as you already own the originals and would just be saving yourself some time from converting it. But those are probably converted from CDs and a lot of real audiophiles actually prefer vinyl, they say it has a truer sound.

Total success!
Credit lines: Motoki for the hint on the wire. PolderbitS awesome intuitive software, I called it Dufferware as even I can use it! The Fureys for the Irish diddley-diddley, my first attempt. Citroen for the CD player! ;D
I've kept it simple Mo, I can get the best bits of two LPs onto a single cheapo CD in .wav format. As far as the music itself, I doubt whether I'd find some of this source as a lot is stuff I got as freebies when I worked at EMI Records! (I've got a T-Rex shellac master that I've played once. The album was never released. As its not vinyl I daren't play it, it would just wear out. Now I can get that and some other priceless tracks onto CD.)
Loads of thanks for the help guys.

Ah okay well if you aren't keeping them on your hard drive but burning them onto CD then wav is probably better as it's uncompressed. Some programs like Nero can even convert to CD audio so you can play the CDs on regular CD players.

Damn. There I go writing a tutorial for you Meb and you solve the problem. Well, if anyone's interested go look in the help section and you'll find it there. If you need CDBurning software try either: www.cdburnerxp.se/ (bigger download, better program) www.deepburner.com/ (smaller, not as good in my opinion)
