Bravo next time you complain about your lack of internet access just be glad you are not in Romania anymore. www.theinquirer.net/?article=17958Man waits 28 years for landline
You think you have got it bad

THOSE ANGRY at BT's broadband slow roll out to rural exchanges might want to consider this bloke's plight before their blood pressure rockets off the scales again. According to Associated Press, Romanian Gheorghe Titianu applied for a landline 28 years ago and he never got a reply.
Titianu was not one to write back, after all complaining when the boss of the country is Nikolai Ceaucescu is the action of a man planning a short incarnation.
However last week Romtelecom finally got around to replying. The letter said that they still did not have any landlines to give out but if he filled out this form he might get one in the future.
Now that Mr Ceasucescu is pushing up the daisies Titianu was able to do that wonderful thing open to all who bask in a free society, write a sarcastic letter back. He wrote to the company that he was honoured that they had not forgotten him after 28 years. But in the meantime he had gotten married, had two children and have even had a phone line in his new home.
Spinsters, if they can call themselves that, at Romtelecom described the incident as "nothing exceptional" . They cheerfully pointed out that a lot of people die while awaiting a landline which was why it liked to confirm that their potential customer is still breathing.

Heh well I'm proud of my Italian roots, but I don't want to part with my American cable modem.
I just read a news article that said a majority of internet users in the US (51%) now use broadband.

Heck, I'm jumping around, we beat the USA out of a gold medal in swimming (yeah, that was so unexpected, we all thought she'd LOSE), team gymnastics (no surprise) and rowing (yaaarrrrr!)... ...oh yeah, this is Bravo 1 in case you don't know! Hopefully later today the guys'll come and install cable internet...
