Hi all... I would be honored if some of you would be willing to try out/test a tutorial I wrote on making a quest in the TESCS using the dialogue and journal functions. It's very Newbie-ish, so if you already know anything about this, you may want to skip it, but I've seen so many questions on how to make quests, and while Srikandi's dialogue tutorial is great, and Scripting for Dummies is awesome, there was really nothing out there that covers the PROCESS of making a working quest. I would appreciate constructive feedback, either on the content or the presentation (this was also my first foray into Dreamweaver, so I'm learning web design as I go!). Thanks!! Here's the link: www.themcnews.com/morrowind.htm then you choose either the web-based or the downloadable pdf. Thanks! Sky

I'll admit i just skimmed this but it looks good I always say tutorials should be written with newbies in mind. It's amazing how many things we now consider simple are not to someone who's never done it before. I'm all for sharing knowledge learned ;D

Well, I've just read it right through and I think it's exactly what I've been looking for.
For me, the best thing is that you explain very patiently *why* you need stuff in that particular order and you also explain very clearly *how* the MW engine works in deciding what an NPC will or won't say in dialogue.
How long did it take you Skydiver? Looks like a labour of love! ;D

Thanks.
Actually, only two days of nothing else to do at work. It was a slow week. Since I can't mod or test mods at work (I don't think they'd like that), I surf the boards. I kept seeing "How do I make a quest?" posts, and I got tired of trying to answer them all.
So I opened word and started writing. ;D
The web thing took a day or two, as I was learning Dreamweaver as I went.
I was really trying to capture the process more than the details, so using this in conjunction with Scripting for Dummies and srikandi's dialogue tut are what I had in mind.
Maybe I'll post this on the official forums...I'm just a little nervous at the reaction I might get.

I always feel nervous about that, so much so i never have posted stuff there. It's silly as i'm sure some people will appreciate it.
Go for it, if it helps one person then it was worth putting it there. (says me who's too chicken ;D )

Go for it mate!
I've looked at a lot of the tutorials around and I think that that one is one of the best. Oh oh. 'And Cali wrote a very good one too' Flameproof suit on! ;D

But they are a very accurated depiction of that place. Skydiver thanks so much for the tutorial quite useful IMO, we can get the technical details elsewhere as you said, so yours really fills a gap.
