It has more than its share of morons, and many of the rest are lemmings who will turn on someone and jump on them if they crowd seems to be going that way, or keep quiet when they really don't agree with what's going on. The mods are biased as hell and many seem to be on power trips. They single some people out and go out of their way to try find things they supposedly do wrong while ignoring others. They also don't do their damned job and let flames and other things go on way too long, when they should be putting a stop to it. Then they get mad when things get completely out of control as if they didn't see it coming. It's a clique and a popularity contest where new modders who aren't "famous" and don't have a name for themselves can be ignored no matter how good their mod, while the supposed big names can make the umpteenth minor retexure of Rhedd faces and it's like the second coming. Then there are the net nannies who feel it is their duty to inform people what they can and cannot do and speak for Bethesda as far as what they want, or spout out what they claim is law as if they are attornies. Trust me I've been going there a lot longer than you, since a bit before the game came out, about 2 1/2 years IIRC. While there are some nice people there, overall it is not a nice place, friendly one, nor a well run place. It's also filled with a bunch of nonsense like the daily posts of children saying 'hEy lEtZ MaK dA bEsT dRaGoNBaLlZ tC eVR!!' So if you want to tell someone how it's not so bad, save it for someone else who hasn't had loads of very bad experiences there time and time again.

oooooooo nice rant . Oops sorry, comment Thing is you see, I've got a thick skin so morons don't bother me that much. I used to have (in my opinion) rather a few of em in charge of me when I still worked for the UK gubbermint. Hmmm yes you are right. You've been on the ES board far longer than me. I only joined the board the first week of the Morrowind launch in the UK . I think I released my first mod somewhere back in the dim distant past of 2002. I cringe when I look at it now. A clique and a popularity contest for new modders? Yep can't argue with that point. There's a way round it that I use though. I create Mods for ME. If I like em, bugger the rest of humanity. Assuming that some people on the board actually qualify as members of humanity. The juries still out on that one. Net nannies and Biased Mods. Never had that problem, or if I have it's been so far beneath my consideration that i've ignored it. As I may have mentioned, i've got a very thick skin. Unless I get a splinter, and then you wouldn't believe the fuss I make. Do I have a point?. Yep, pretty sure I left it around here someplace. Aha. Yes it's this. Life is hard and then you die. Er no thats not it. How about, Nil Carborundum Illegitimi (Don't let the bastards grind you down). Yep, thats the one. Now, don't take this the wrong way, because it's not meant to be a dig as such, but before you post you REALLY need to take a chill pill my friend Comments such as "Trust me I've been going there a lot longer than you" can be translated as "shut up noob!!!". And your last line could be translated as "You haven't a clue Noob!!!" Now I know that's not what you meant, but part of the problem you may be having with the other board is the strength of your convictions and how other people translate them?. Heh, I know I made a comment on the board that was taken so far out of context that the U.N were about to convene a war crimes tribunal ;D Now. As far as I'm concerned, this is one FINE board. Part of that is because the people here are not l33t sp34k morons but can actually string a fairly coherent and well articulated sentence together. Yes, I like it here far more than the ES board, but I stand by my earlier posts comment. The ES board is not that bad. I'll qualify that with, in my opinion It provides probably the best method of keeping track of new mods released by other people, simply because of the shear number of people who post there. Once again, in my opinion. My final comment. Just because it's my opinion doesn't make it right, just as because you have had bad experiences doesn't make it a bad board for every one. Thankyou. This has been a Party Political Broadcast on behalf of the "If you can't Kill em, ignore em" Party.

Well i'm glad you like it here i'd like to think that this is a friendly place and we make people feel welcome. I understand that everybodys experiences will differ at esf, i've never really posted there much but i've read a fair bit, i have seen some of the stuff that Motoki mentioned and i think it's a shame it happens. My feeling is always that it's only a game and like you i mod for me, i'm not bothered what others think of my stuff, if they like it fine and if they don't that's also fine. If i had fun making it that's all that matters. I modded totally for myself from the moment i got the game i only got involved in the 'public' side of it because i could answer a question somebody had at pds, i'd lurked for a year and had no real intentions of joining but when i saw that i thought i could help and i did. That is what i enjoy the most about all this, helping people . I actually enjoy making something for somebody else's mod more than for my own at times, somehow i just get more satisfaction from that

Well sorry if I went off on you. I've just had some really bad experiences there, only some of which Cali and Bravo have witnessed. I've gone through a lot there and also a lot of friends of mine have. I've tried to have a thick skin, I've tried to just say I was modding for me, at times I even thought I succeeded for a while, but ultimately I am just not that type of person and try as a might, I can not not let biases, ignorance, rudeness, unfairness etc not get to me and all of that and more I experienced there. And it's even worse for me to see friends and people I care about go through it. I was one of the (supposedly) "famous" modders there (or infamous depending on who you ask) but I think that nonsense is all very silly. Ultimately, I have to say in the 2+ months I've been away from there, I have been a lot happier than the 2+ years I have been there. It was affecting my rl happiness and as silly as that sounds, it's true and I tried to not let it but sooner or later something or someone there always did. After a while it got to the point where people who criticize, throw digs or try to start up trouble because I was "Motoki" and certain mods would look at for things I said as excuses to go after me. (I actually was there once as a "newb" under a psudeonym and people left me alone then, ignored me, but left me alone). I even had some people (*coughlochnaruscough*) tell me point blank they were jealous of my supposed fame. Believe me if I could transfer it I would have. It all just wasn't worth it and I should let it all go and am trying to but that place still is a sore spot for me and has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Honestly, it took me some time even to be able to come back to this place, or hell to even play Morrowind or have anything to do with it, and at times I question that even because for me it's only ever brought me stress and upset. We hit our little bumps sometimes here even, ahem, but it's *nothing* like the ES Forum. I'm always able to resolve things here and I know it's not so stupid noteriety contest, it's small enough here that we can mostly say what we want and people behave since the miscreants tend to stay on the big boards like ES and that's just fine with me.

Well yes we've had a few 'bumps' between us two haven't we but we usually sort it out in the end You can't go through life without occasionally disagreeing with people, it wouldn't be normal, and i think were pretty normal aren't we.............well maybe that's debatable ;D

I still remember the FoV thing...ugh...sometimes I *still* get pissed off, thinking how awesome that mod would have been had the community not torn them apart for a small error which was probably due to HOW EVERYONE WAS RUSHING THEM TO FINISH IT (not you MO, I meant all the ppl saying GIMME GIMME GIMME); ...and yes, some of the "BB v. faudau bodies" crisis' comments were a bit unwarranted, but that turned out "relatively" well, at least I think so; I remember making quite a few rude comments myself at some point, and Neuman and I are on speaking terms (I've even got a nickname over at pds). After all the things that have happened in life (yeah, I'm young, but I still think I've had a fair amount happen to me that no child should ever have to go through...which is why I'm going to put off marriage for a lot longer than my parents did); anyway, the point is, life sucks ...j/k; I have not yet fathomed the meaning of life, but I have realized that you have to let go at some point (something that I still have not been able to do with quite a few things) Mo, we all have our sore spot, yours just happens to encompass thousands of ppl; , mine encompasses MILLIONS!

"Wht r u t4l|<1ng 4b0u7 n00b, 1 4m teh l33t pwnexxor!". What?, my cryptographic key seems to have malfunctioned. Totally incoherent. Theres four little letters that make an adequate reply to leet speakers.....F.O.A.D. Any murder of the language used make people feel superior or make others feel left out and/or inferior really gets up my nose. Street, ebonics (now who the HELL invented that name?),leet. .....AAAAAARRRRRG. I forgot Lawyer speak, but hell, Lawyers have a good thing going. They murder the language as a means of protecting thier jobs and those of thier Lawyer friends. If the law was written in plain English, they'd be out of a job. Give me a well constructed sentence in the Queens English any day. It's a dying art. You know that guy methusulah ?, he's my Great Grand Nephew Moses? Young whippersnapper.
