So the game computer is cycling through a windows reinstall now...hopefully with all problems resolving. Made a startup disk on another machine to get that far...setup fixed some sort of error on the hard drive in passing, and I suspect used a better driver for the CD drive that I put in in place of the one that scotched in the first place. Fingers crossed.

Bated, (baited?), breath. A total Windows re-install usually cures most ills. Apart, that is, from Creeping Sockets, Failed Fan, Lightning Strikes, Crashed Head, Dropped Bits and, in Cali's case, Mince Pies in the Keyboard. It's a wonder they work at all!

Well the windows reinstall got me far enough to find the true culprit...all was well until I reinstalled drivers for the video card. Now AB is roaming a much faster responding and more detailed world courtesy of a new and more powerful video card and all is well. Much faster responding and more detailed...but still unmodified. And I am only seven days ahead in the journal. Once I get back to what I consider a safe minimum deadline lead I will definately check into the recommended mods. You guys have been great in your support in my harrowing times; I thank you. And thanks for reading too!

Glad you're able to game again...;D ...maybe you should post some shots of Arvil Bren... And if you like, I could make a banner for your blog...just give me a couple of shots (or if you post a screenie of him in unmodded Morrowind I could stage some shots myself). If you'd like me to that is... Thanks to you for creating this wonderful story! PS - I've added : cheers : (without the two spaces between cheers and each : ) into the censored word list, so if you type it, you'll get the smiley...just a head's up

Computer knowledge is coming to my door!
Yes Bravo I would like VERY MUCH to have you make a banner for the journal...don't actually know exactly what you mean by a banner...but I know I want one!
Now, to continue digging into the depths of my ignorance...I actually have no idea how people capture those screen images...seen em...thought about how cool it would be more than once...have not the first clue how to do it.
If you want you could just make your own image of AB... he is just an unmodded Breton after all...ponytail light colored hair and the face that looks like he hasn't shaved in a few days but isn't really growing a beard. As of now he mostly runs around in common pants, a common blue shirt, and bonemold boots with that purple alteration glow to them...carrying the basic devil spear from Ra Virr's shop.
I'll have to figure out what info I need to access you onto the blog...done it with past blog's it's just been a while.
Thanks for even thinking of volunteering...and thanks again for turning me on to this board...there is something here that really works for me...despite my relatively simple-minded approach to things Morrowind!

So another aspect of the journal that has me completely fascinated...and is greatly helping me.
The book I've been writing was driving me crazy...my background in writing is journalism...write today, print tomorrow, instant gratification. Writing a book is so much different...write write write...no one is reading it...I felt like a hermit...so I started AB's Journal...
I have a hit counter...it identifies people by their ISP, where they are, and their browser...I must admit that I am fascinated and look at it briefly almost every night... things that I really get a charge out of: I see 'Salt Lake City', and I know that is my son who reads nearly every day...I see some other places that are there just about every day, and figure it isn't some new reader every day, it's someone who is coming back regularly...and I see places literally all over the world; Greece, France, Sweden, Singapore, Australia; more than I can even remember...
So here's the question...I know some of those regulars are here...which ones are you guys?

I'll be (one of) the French ones And I started using Firefox yesterday. In order to take screenshots you need to open (with notepad) the Morrowind.ini file that is in the directory you installed the game. About 3/4 of a page down there should be 3 lines beginning 'screenshot . . . ' . Where it says Screen Shot Enable=0, simply change the 0 to 1 and by pressing the print screen key a BMP will be saved in the game directory. You can take as many as you like as it numbers them so they don't get overwritten. Your story is one of the most entertaining things I've read on the net, It's allowed me to see the game in a new light. Thankyou, and I hope you'll continue (it could take years to finish the game )

Well i'm the UK but then i still haven't had time to read it all yet it's all these silly textures people keep making me do ;D I don't see portugal on your list, if it is then that's Mebyon I'll let the others tell you there's, as for the screenshot it's really quite simple. In your Morrowind directory is a text file with a cog symbol on called Morrowind.ini, doiuble click it to open it up then look for this line, Screen Shot Enable=0 and change it to this Screen Shot Enable=1 save it and then next time you play the game if you hit the print screen button on your keyboard you will get a screenshot These end up in your morrowind directory. EDIT Regan beat me to it ;D too slow typing today

I'd be Augusta, Georgia (though I usually live in Chicago). I use Opera 7.5, but I have it set to identify me as IE (never bothered to chage it), I'm curious, what does your hit counter register me as?) As to screenies, Cali and Regan have covered that...but if you'd like I can choose some bretons from Better Heads and show you those as other options (dunno how vanilla you want to go). I'll put together some concepts sometime today/tomorrow/this weekend (hehe, I'm horrible when I set my own deadlines!) EDIT: a banner is a pic across the top of your site, like here or here or here (showed you VERY different example ranging from simple, small to large)

And for posting pics on the net, I'd recommend either Imageshack or Photobucket (I pref photobucket because it seems to me that some imageshack servers load slowly or go down, but photobucket rarely does so) However, sometimes Photobucket stops accepting free accounts...I don't think they're like that at the moment though...

Cool! It is indeed one of the French...I have an Ile de France and another one that just says France...a couple of Portugals and a varying handfull of UK, but it was exciting and unexpected (don't know why) to find that you guys are among my international audience...and I have to wonder if you aren't responsible at least in part for more of my international audience...when the second Portugal started showing up I vaguely assumed they had heard it somehow from the first one, for example.
Anyway, I've been writing madly for the last day and a half, catching up from the computer blackout, and I think in a couple weeks when these days hit they are gonna be WINNERS...I think they are some of my best stuff yet.
Bravo, I'll look tonight...I do recognize Augusta as a regular, but don't recall the OS associated with it. In the meantime I'll be playing with my newfound screenshot capability (thanks to all) and looking forward to your concepts...on whatever self imposed deadline you work them. e-mail them at timsup2nothing@yahoo.com
I feel like the well taken care of kid surrounded by aunts and uncles Tim

...dunno how much your inbox can take, I can give you links, or even post them here (or in the WIP depending on the level of scerecy you wish to keep - or PM)...
