timsup2nothing.blogspot.comI'm a writer, and a player of games...including Morrowind (actually that has become almost exclusively Morrowind)...anyway, I recently started a project that helps me explain to peaple who don't play games why I can spend so much time at it. It gives people who don't play a sense of what Morrowind is...and I'm finding that it is giving people who do play a different sense of what Morrowind could be...including me...it is a much different game this time around than it has been in the past. All are invited to check it out!

Well if it isn't the man himself ;D Welcome Bravo very kindly pointed out your site to us yesterday, i haven't had a chance to read it all yet but the little i did was good. It's nice because it's all so familiar yet at the same time it's seeing the game from another perspective

I've just finished your 'journal' up to day 25. Really good stuff. I particularly like the way you have added to the story to make it all the more readable. (Towing the smuggler's bodies out to keep the slaughterfish away indeed!) Are you going to tell us when you level up?

Thanks for the welcome! Special thanks to Bravo for pointing out my stuff...and for leaving me a link to follow here!
I might tell you guys here when I hit some significant levels, but not in the journal...it's kinda challenging sometimes to keep the mechanics of the game invisible, but I try so no level up reports. It's also in some strange way an embarrassment. I've played a lot of Morrowind...and learned plenty of ways to get an edge... but for the most part they don't write out well, so I don't do them with AB. Therefore he is progressing s l o w l y...to the point where I sometimes get crazed.
Then there are those things that just cry out to be added...just how DO you 'dispose of corpse' at the click of a button? And my current dilemma...if trafficing in Dwemer artifacts is illegal why would I think I can just unload them to the enchanter at Fort Moonmoth like I normally do? Clearly that won't work...and Arvil is runnin outta cash in a hurry. Bottom line, I don't do anything with him that I can't write about sensibly...so it's a lot harder to get anywhere. And at the same time he HAS to do SOMETHING interesting every day.

How about a companion mod, (that would add another dimension to keep it 'interesting'),or are you trying to keep purely to the un-modded game? On the other hand, the story so far reads so well. Here's this poor sap who has been sprung from jail, couldn't find his backside with both hands and is now doing serious damage to walking skeletons and battle-mages!

Yeah, I was wondring about that, are you going to get into Bloodmoon too? ...or just MW main quest and then Tribunal?

Hmmmmm....not that I want to admit I'm a little out of place here...but I have no clue what a 'companion mod' is actually. I do my writing on a machine that is little more than a dumb terminal, backing up to the net...or in the case of AB's Journal, writing directly on the net. I have another pretty good machine I use for games...straight from the box games. I have a hunch that unless some kind soul appeared on my doorstep to help me my computer expertise is not sufficient for mods. As for AB and his future...beats me. I intend to play him through the main quest, which at his current rate of progress is starting to look like a life's work. I write between ten and fifteen days ahead, and I think it's day 35 before he gets around to getting the Puzzle Cube. With sleeping at night, interaction with NPC's that can take a full day, and maintaining some sort of rationale for the writing he just doesn't get stuff done very fast.

Comapnion mods just basically give you an npc who follows you about, some do more complicated things than others, like companions who level up with you or you can train.
Personally although i have some installed and have even picked up some companions, i really prefer to play with just my character, i find the companions more of a hindrance than a help in combat as they get in the way half the time, last thing i want to do is kill them by accident. Mine are currently left at my house and will probably stay there ;D
Do you have no mods installed then?

Right...just the game straight from the box...bloodmoon and tribunal since they came with it...my son says I am computer challenged.

I have a mum like that, but she does try bless her ;D I remember how amazed i was by this game when i first had it, i got myself a full set of glass armour which i thought looked the bees knees ;D and i remember just staring at the skies which looked just fantastic, and then just watching my character breathing because it was so mesmerizing. Sometimes i think mods take away from the little things that made me love this game in the first place. In saying that though over the last couple of days i've been playing a bit and i had totally forgotten how much i hate cliff racers Not sure if i could play unmodded but i'm sure that i could do without half the ones i do have installed as i never really use them, most of them don't exactly improve the game they just give me more clothes which i never wear I could not play without Better Bodies, Better Heads and Carnajo's textures, they improve the game a lot in my opinion but the rest i could live without if i had too.

Doesn't look like anyone is appearing on my doorstep with computer knowledge...which is a bad thing...my game machine is refusing to cooperate...started with a cd rom drive problem and is now refusing to boot at all. Fortunately I was ten days ahead with the journal so I have time...but it is a wrench in my works!

Well, first of all, I must say that in your latest issue (Day 27), I like how you've captured the air of 'business' we've all got, being pulled in 20 million directions by guild quests, the Main Quest and various little side quests...nicely done Sorry about your computer, you say it does not run at all? ...describe your problems and I'm sure someone here could help you... ...and as to mods, here's a great guide to those starting out with them; on the same site (click on home) you'll find some of the most comprehensive mods lists to date...

That's a good link Bravo for anybody starting out with adding a few mods. I know I was all at sea when I started and had to re-install MW at least twice, (and that when it was just the one island; it was still a pain.) Cali has given you her suggestions which make the game so much as it should have been when first released. Better Bodies is a must-have. Real pity about your machine, please let us know the symptoms. We've got HeWhoWatches and Regan in here regularly and they're almost bound to point to the problem area. - Mind you, it's always expensive! I'm just going to go and read the two new 'days', looking forward to it!
