I know this is old news, but maybe some people don't know about it. The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy is being turned into a movie. They posted the cast here. I'm looking foward to it. I think that it has the potential to be a very good film, but if they screw it up, it will be screwed up a lot.

har, har Arthur Dent is a looser. The cooleset character is the Vogran's personal brain consultant! "That is perfectly normal behavior for a psychiatrist" Classic...

I loved the books (even the later ones that most people didn't like as much), and the TV series was classic.
'That's very good thinking you know. Turn on the Improbability Drive for a second without first activating the proofing screens. Hey kid you just saved our lives, you know that?' 'Oh,' said Arthur, 'well, it was nothing really...' 'Was it?' said Zaphod, 'Oh well, forget it then. OK, computer, take us in to land.' 'But...' 'I said forget it.'

I just finished rereading the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide[/i]. It includes all of the books and a bonus story called Young Zaphod Plays it Safe. Classic stuff. Lines like, "And I am Mr. Desiato's bodyguard, it went, "and I am responsible for his body, and I am not responsible for yours, so take it away before it gets damaged."
or
Their songs are on the whole very simple and mostly follow the familiar theme of boy-being meets girl-being beneath a silvery moon, which then explodes for no adequately explored reason

I have the original tv series on video, love it. I recognised two of the cast, Martin Freeman plays Tim in the office ( Not sure if you all know that one but the brits will ) And Bill Nighy has been in loads of things most recently the film Love Actually, he won a bafta for that. I'm always sceptical about my favourites being made into films, it's okay if your lucky enough to get a Peter Jackson type who loves it too and stays true to the story but if they're just in it for the money it usually turns out bad

It will be interesting! I think the TV series did very well when they had to follow the books and then the original radio version. I seem to remember that they used the same actor in both the radio and TV versions for 'The Guide'. Favourite character has to be Marvin. "God! I feel awful."
