We all keep posting pet pics in the off topics off topic thread so i decided to make a proper pet thread.
partly because Regan asked me this,
And also because i just took some pics of my nice clean tank, after spending most of this morning up to my elbows in fish cr*p
So to answer Regan's question, i have an external filter with three sperate chambers, one carbon, one hula hoops (they look like the crisps ;D ) and one foam, it's very efficient and since i've had it i don't have to clean the tank so often
Here's the full tank complete with new plants
See that big fish in the middle, well that's one of my loaches, unfortunately he's a bit poorly I don't see them much as they are nocturnal, they hide in those logs during the day and i can just about see them through the holes, so until i took them out this morning i didn't realise it was like that. It was okay a couple of days ago when i saw it early morning before i put the light on I'll be honest i think old age is finally catching up with it, it's about 14yrs old, and although i've put some treatment stuff in i doubt it will live
I took a close up of him as well, when i was cleaning he didn't move which is most unusual as normaly he thrashes about and splashes me when i'm doing it ;D
But thanks to those two i've never had real plants, they just dig too much But i have a new weapon in my fight against digging loaches, those plants are on a really heavy base, the rocks are part of it too, and they can't budge them no matter how much they dig ;D
When i started today the left hand side of the tank had hardly any gravel as they had pushed it all up the other end, i gave up years ago trying to keep it smooth as they just pile it all up five minutes after i've smoothed it, as annoying as they can be i shall misss them
partly because Regan asked me this,
Fish: do you have an undergravel filter? when I had tropical fish i had one and it sucks all the detritus down into the gravel, even the corydoras and catfish didn't stir it up, plus it feeds the plants
