News! This may be my last appearance on the site for some time. Carlos the Compute has 'promised' to come here tomorrow and rip this machine to bits, add another hard disk and then rebuild from the ground up! If I never re-appear it's been great knowing you and have a nice rest of your lives! Bye eeeeeeee

News flash!
Carlos the Compute has been, and left, and............
No change!
He brought a Portuguese version of Win XP which I had already said I don't want. He said that my Win 98 SE had a fault on the CD so he couldn't re-install Windows. He's put a monster new hard disk in as well as the original disk. He's drunk two cups of tea and some wine and has now gone home having 'put back' my original system. Oh yes he also said that his best friend's grandmother had died!
So it's two steps forward and one back. (Apart from Granny, poor old duck!)
On the bright side. He's promised to come again tomorrow with an English version of either XP or Win 98 SE. (I didn't ask where this stuff was coming from!)
Gawd, I'm getting hacked off with this malarky!

Oh dear poor granny No need to answer my pm then. These portugese seem too laid back to get anything done.

She'd had a good innings! She was 97 when she went and apparently she had had a new lease of life when her 'old man' died some 30 years ago! It's normal for the women here to go into black when their 'loved ones' shuffle off. She said that black wasn't her colour!

I don't know where you find those smileys! That's great! Now max says that I've got to get a new version of that c-dilla prog as the one on the CD is not for Win XP!
