Well, what do you spend your "spare cash" on? Furniture items or computer equipment? I would have said the latter. But if you think about it, what good is a PC if you don't have a table to put it on, and a chair on which to sit when you use it? Yes folks, and that's why Mr Bill Gates has now been overtaken by Mr Ikea (who lives not far from me in Switzerland) as the RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD. I remember him starting out in Sweden (when I lived there, eons ago) and everyone thought him a "nutter" - well it just goes to show!

I'd have to say computer/gaming equipment...though I mainly hoard it up, because living with my parents is nice; they have furniture...and my dad upgrades my PC reqularly... ;D

Afraid so, Cali - Ikea is starting to overtake MacDonalds in the number of outlets they are offering to the public. You've surely seen their TV adds?
All I'm waiting for now, after that fashion-designer brought out the "eatable" suit, is the "eatable" dining-room table. Imagine the shock of surprise when your invited guests discover that the reason there's no food on the table is because the table itself is their food! ;D

Do you feel sorry for the lamp, well, you shouldn't...it's boring! IKEA: Unboring ...I don't like their furniture....I prefer our nice GLASS table (it's huge, took 4 men to carry it in), cherry-wood bookshelves and the nice pigskin L couch (is that the right name?)...

Ah...well, we don't have any fur coats...so ...and I happen to concur, but there are slight differences and arguments can be made for each side (like why does it matter, he's carved up for food anyway), but we'll just not drag this out into such a thing, I concur that you should not hunt animals just for their skin...and rare ones should be let be...but pigs... OK *shuts up*

Haha I spend most of my money on computers but I get good deals I like building them myself. My computer is actually sitting on an Ikea table I use as a desk lol. The top piece was in the scratch and dent section for $5 and the legs were $10, not bad at all. When you are poor, Ikea is a good place to shop. Their items are very distinctive and noticeable though, I can always tell when I go somewhere and someone has something from Ikea.

I have my beliefs and they are mine and mine alone, i never try to make others think like me, freedom of choice and all that. But you did ask why i hate leather furniture so i told you. Simple.

Yeah, the hallmark of Ikea is low price. Years ago they also used to be low quality, but that's improved tremendously in the last decade. Of course, like with Marks & Spencers clothing (in the UK) you run the risk of a hundred other people having the same thing. But I guess, when it comes to a computer table, who cares? Although, the latest Ikea trend seems to be "self-designed" stuff - leggo-like - so that even if you buy what someone else buys, you can still "assemble" it to your own individual taste.
I also think they are "kind to the animals" - not much "pure leather". They're also quite strict about not using endangered rain-forrest timber. But one never knows, could all just be advertizing propoganda!

I thought all flat pack stuff ends up assembled in different ways ;D The instructions get worse all the time, last thing i had just had hard to understand pictures and no text whatsoever to explain how to do it

Over the last 36 months I spent about 300 Euros on furniture and 2000+ on 'puter crap. And it's not even like I play a lot of games which need the hardware, I just want stuff. Furniture is something which lasts for a long time while computers do not (relatively). So I guess it's not too weird if someone (me) spends more on that than on chairs. I mean, how many chairs am I going to need anyway. Or beds, tables, closets..

Right, I guess once you've got a bed, cupboard, table and chair - that's it. But with the continuous "updating" of 'puter equipment there's always something new to buy!
