Just to get a feel for what people like, as well as recommendations!
I'm on a humongous trance/electronica/techno kick right now. Don't ask me...I'm not exactly the "velvet-rope-club" type, but the music just keeps my energy up and it's great when driving or while modding.
My playlist right now includes most (if not all) the songs from the following CDs:
Rush - Darude Before the Storm - Darude (yeah, he's my fave) Emotional Technolgy - BT IMA - BT Believe - 4Strings anything and everything by the Chemical Brothers and Crystal Method

I can dig on that, I find it extreamly motivational and uplifting for what ever I am doing at the time(even when I am just sitting around mindlessly surfing the intenet)

Well, obviously where I am right now is not a place I have mp3s on my PC; but at home I have some...not much, as I really don't play music much while surfing...though my dad has a HUGE CD collection, though mine's not that bad either; Various Soundtracks ranging from Yacko's World Song to Gone with the Wind to Men in Tights to... Most of the Star Wars sounds(yeah sounds, like wookie roar to r2 beep...if only you could hear my pc's sound scheme ) and songs... Various Classical...but my favorite composer is Vivaldi Actually, I leave most of it on the cd's instead of copying it because my keyboards has these tabs up at the top which can play a cd (play, pause, seek...basic stuff) without starting any other program...it's like "Versato" or something...came with the keyboard...real nifty! *...here's a re-post, just del the other...thanks; and sorry*

Oooh, let's resurrect a dead thread ;D Sadly I lost my 10Gb of MP3s in a hard drive crash (I'll never buy another Seagate drive again - that's two that have failed me now!) Fortunately I have a CD player sat atop my monitor at home. I'm a little lazy, though, and can rarely be bothered to change CDs, unless I buy a new one. I generally have a stack of a dozen or so CDs sat on my desk, and every now and again I'll change for a bit of variety. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I'd had the same CD in my player for about a month - The Distillers:Coral Fang Since then I've been paid, and keep buying new CDs. I'm a fan of pretty much all things metal and punk, though I like the odd bit of classical and opera too. My current stack of CDs is as follows: The Distillers:Coral Fang Dimmu Borgir:For All Tid Lacuna Coil:Comalies Snow Patrol:Final Straw KoRn:Untouchables Opeth:Damnation Otep:Sevas Tra Opeth:Blackwater Park Lacuna Coil:Unleashed Memories Nightwish:1997-2004 (4 CD box set) Mad Capsule Markets:OSC-DIS The Cardigans:First Band on the Moon One day I'll re-cut all those nice MP3s back to my new shiny hard drive, then I won't have to worry about changing CDs Regards, Pauly TheLys Admin-thingy

I have only heard of snow patrol and the cardigans in that list. I used to be really into music but now i'm just so out of it, partly because i discovered books and all my money goes on them now instead of music

That's odd - up until a month ago when I gave my machine a major overhaul, it'd been running the same 4Gb Seagate drive as its primary since 1998....maybe I got the good one MP3 players...don't have one of those. Not too much point really because most of my work is done from home. The CDs I listen to are pretty eclectic - they range from classical to some modern pop. I say some because most of the modern stuff is naff recycled covers of better, older versions. [old person mode]Ah, they don't write 'em like they used to, do they?[/old person mode]

[old person mode]Ah, they don't write 'em like they used to, do they?[/old person mode] Heh, I heartily concur; nothing beats Vivali's L'Estro Armonico while modding, it's got a real nice pace/tempo. Also the Four Seasons isn't bad...and then kill me for this, but I actually enjoy listening to the James Bond, Matrix, Mission Impossible and Hunt for Red October theme songs! I've not yet gotten around to copying my Beatles CDs onto my PC; or my dad's Queen ones, though I much pref the Beatles. And of course there are some 70/80s Romanian Band you guys would not know of that are nice!

MP3 players...don't have one of those. Not too much point really because most of my work is done from home. Used to work at home, now I'm in the office all day, so an MP3 player is next on my 'to buy' list (well, after a new scanner/copier/fax/printer, anyway). I really should stop dropping in at the local record store on the way home. Bought yet another two CDs last night.... Regards, Pauly TheLys Thingy-type-wotsit

Well, I dunno, I have a CD player for trips and a computer at home, so I really don't see the need for an mp3 player; also now that I'm getting a laptop, I wont even need the CD player on the plane! ...my dad has hundreds of cds that I can borrow from him; hey Pauly, maybe you're addicted to Cds? ...and what's wrong with stopping in once in and browsing? ;D

Pauly, maybe you're addicted to Cds? ...and what's wrong with stopping in once in and browsing? ;D Noooo! Must.... buy.... more.... CDs..... The problem is, when I was younger, the music scene pretty much sucked (or so I thought). Now there seems to be so much good music around. I buy CDs on the strength of one song, or a recommendation from a friend. I also tend to buy CDs that I've already got in another format (vinyl, tape). I also have this annoying tendency to want to spend whatever money I might be carrying at the time.... Regards, Pauly TheLys Thingy-doodah

...I actually enjoy listening to James Bond.... The John Barry music? Ah, now there's a composer....no-one can paint scenes of wide musical vistas like old John Barry You only need to hear a few bars in the opening score of a film to recognise the style - classic stuff.
