I got some little baby fishes today They are so small They looked small in the shop but when i put them in the tank they looked tiny, good job i haven't got any large fish in there or i reckon they'd get eaten. They've had their first little meal and all have bulging bellies at the moment, they look so funny when they eat because when they are small like that you can actually see their belly swelling with the food ;D Of course the other fish are in uproar and there's a fair amount of squabling going on as they reafirm their positions in the tank heirachy For those that care i got neon tetras, glowlight tetras (those are minute right now), harlequins, serpae tetra's and zebra danios, 4 of each

I love neon tetras, the way they 'shoal about'' and the light catches their scales I had some zebra danios once, but they were mental Zipping around and disrupting the other fishes' relaxing time. Took me ages to catch them and take them back to the shop. I hope yours are of a more sedate variety ;D Any chance of a pic ?

I did take a pic of them in the bag still, it's a bit blurry but i shall put it up anyway I've had zebra danios before, they are quite nippy little swimmers but it makes the tank seem more lively, most of my fish just hang ;D So far i am missing one glowlight and one harlequin, i know they are in there somewhere but i can't see them hiding in the plants probably

Aren't they sweet ;D I'll always remember the moment of letting them out of their bags to start a new life, in a strange new world. I had a rather nasty neon-loss incident with one of my oscars. During the day he'd be all chummy with them but each night 1 went missing. I went down witha torch and caught him at it after his 3rd tetra.

Basic rule with fish, if it will fit in their mouth they will eat it I once had to smack a siamese fighter on the head with a net to make him spit out a guppy baby, he did and i quickly grabbed it and put it back in the nursery tank. i'm sure he thought i'd put them in for his dinner but i thought they looked big enough to be left alone, obviously i was wrong ;D I found the glowlight, unfortunately it was dead but i was expecting that as it was swimming funny, still no sign of the harlequin It's a shame but often when you buy new fish you might lose one or two, it's very stressful for them plus they had a half hour journey to get to my home then they are put in a strange place with loads of other fish. I just turned the light out and they all went mental for a couple of minutes. They will soon settle in though Having kept fish for 15 years now i've seen all this before and i know that once the first few days are over things will settle back down to it's usual tranquil state, in other words they will all just go back to hanging in the water and only moving to get fed, lazy sods ;D

Those plants look good too Cali. I can't seem to get the plants in my tank to survive. It's only got one huge sort of spotted catfish thing that has a sucker instead of a mouth and a population of self-perpetuating guppies. I know the water is a bit soft as have to keep adding a pinch of bi-carb every month, maybe a couple of lumps of limestone would help?
The glow effect on that bag looks pretty good. Magical, I assume? ;D

...and it looks like an alteration enchantment no less! ...could it be water breathing? ...or levitation?

Why it's a bag of holding of course ;D Well i expect those plants do look good as they are all of two weeks old and plastic :laugh4: I must say they certainly don't look it in that pic though, because of the loaches, or loach now the poorly one died , i can't have real ones as they dig them up. It would be a total waste of time and money trying to make them survive in my tank so i don't bother. Besides as you can see the plastic ones are far more realistic looking nowadays

I've got a serious problem with Pip. Here's the quote from a friend in Australia: She's now walking about looking very smug! Actually, it may be true as she loved our trips to the lake and always joined us in the water!

You know looking again at that tractor it reminds me of the sort they have in kiddie programs where the headlights are eyes ;D
