My cat has no teeth He went to the vets today as he hasn't been eating properly and they were going to extract at least three teeth, well they had to remove all his teeth Poor thing, he just doesn't know what to do with himself, he's not allowed out so he's wandering around and wont settle yet he can hardly walk straight he's so groggy. I just can't believe they took them all out He was a feral kitten and was incredibly sick when we found him, practically dead, and they reckon the rough start he had in life and probably not getting enough calcium from his mother's milk just gave him bad teeth. I bet the local mice will be rejoicing tonight though I just keep sitting here going i just can't take it in yet

I thought it might have been the teeth, but I would never have imagined them taking them ALL out... I'm really sorry for you Cali, I remember how Snowball acted the first week after loosing two. All I can say is that he'll learn to live with it eventually, just bear with him...it might take him longer and you probably won't be letting him out anymore, but you'll get used to it and so will he... It's really sad to have this happen at such a young age, how badly were they infected? At least it's better than having to keep taking him to have them taken out one by one or even end up with a horrible mouth infection...

True, well they must have considered them to be unsaveable else they would have left them in Just been to get him a tin of salmon, if nothing else he'll get spoilt and wont want to go back to cat food again ;D He will be able to go out again bravo just not today, it's too cold and damp out there right now and he's meant to be sleeping not pacing about Still you can't tell them that can you

The poor thing I knew a cat with 2 teeth once, on either side of his upper jaw, he managed normal tinned food but had to have his 'krunklies' (cat biscuits) with a bit of water or milk. He was still a killer mouser though - he just couldn't eat them once he'd caught them

He's had a bit of his salmon, ate that okay but i cut it up so it was really small for him, he just wont stop pacing about the house though. You'd think he'd be sleepy but he's not at all He was eyeing up the birds ealier, typical male , so i don't suppose being toothless will stop his outdoor activities too much ;D

You mean you're still gonna let him out with only 2/3 of his previous fighting power? ...what if he catches a mouse and tried t oswallow it whole?

Not exactly a pet, but a notable visitor. Look what we found caught in the vegetable garden's bird net... Snake 1Snake 2After an hour or two we came back to see if it was really stuck of just dropping by; turns out it was stuck...just as it started raining too . He'd thoroughly gotten his head lodged in there and there'd be no other way to get him out without pliers... Snake 3Snake 4One mangled fence later... Snake 5...during the course of trying to get him to cling to the stick we were going to carry him into the wooded area out back, I was able to take a few good shots of his coloration: TopBottom...can anyone identify this poor guy? ...as to length, I'd say 3-5 feet, certainly more than a meter/yard...however, in the first shot, part of his tail is wrapped around the fence's interior so it may be hard to fully make out... EDIT: yes, he was safely returned into the woods and no, nobody got bitten...

Don't know much about snake species bravo so can't help there, have you looked on the net for snake sites, they might help you identify it.

Wow, what a beautiful animal I don't have any books on american snakes, and he/she isn't in any of my european snake books It must be quite warm where you are, my lizards have only just woken up, it'll be at least a month before there are any snakes around. Lovely pics Bravo

Must be an American special. Not in any of my books either. Smashing shots of a smashing animal Bravo. No snakes here yet either Regan. We've had the cuckoos back for about two weeks though so can't be long now. Really good year for orchids, it's wall to wall out there!

Well, a couple of people over at PDS verified my hunch. It seems that it IS a Black Rat Snake as I'd estimated after comparing him to the 'quick-guide' you get from the visitor's center identifying various snakes so you can tell the doc what bit you...;D
