Hey Bravo, since when have your smileys been pets? ;D Back, very firmly, on topic................ We had an armageddon moment this morning in the fishtank. All the water had seeped out overnight leaving the fishes huddled in a one inch puddle of cold water. The pump was making a neeeeerrrrrrr noise and the heater had blown up! There was water all over the living room floor and Poppy was ballistic! A crack had appeared right across the back of the tank. Managed to rescue the fishes and put them in a bowl with a hot water bottle. Not sure how many died but the sucky catfishy one was OK if a bit pale round the gills. The survivors have now gone to Zeca, the tank is in the garden and I've given up fishes for the time being. There's no way I'm going to buy a new tank and heater even if the pump hasn't died completely. Otherwise it's been a good day!

That's awful That's always been a dread of mine, my first tank developed a leak but it wasn't too bad and i just got a new one, i've blown up a heater before because i forgot to unplug it when i took some of the water out, as the level went down it started making this weird hissing noise then just went bang, i'm lucky none of my fish got skewered by the flying glass I frequently have bad dreams about my fish, sometimes they are all floating dead, or chopped in half or even swimming in the air around the room instead of in the tank Is your floor carpeted or just tiles? if it's carpet no wonder Poppy wasn't happy, smelly fish water wont do it much good

It was, I admit, a very old tank and already had a small crack in the back when I inherited it! I'd made an araldite sandwich of glass to fix it and it had lasted for about three years! (Yep, I'm a real cheapskate!)
Luckily the floor is tiled and has a typically Portuguese slope towards the outside door so most of the water had drained out of the room. The problem was the ariola, (hand made, wollen, tapestry-like carpet; Poppy's pride and joy!) That got soaked and is still hanging up drying out. Can't see any stains so we may have got away with it.
Anyway, no more fishes for us. Bit silly really as we are forever going away for up to three weeks at a time and just leaving them to fend for themselves. Imagine what a disaster it would have been if this had happened while we were in England!

I missed your fish disaster Mebyon, sorry about that I've just spent half an hour wrestling with 70Kg of damp dog (the three of them combined, or that would be one big dog ;D) They go running in the field a couple of times a day and today thay found a nice fresh buzzard turd/splat Obviously they think that their natural odour is too subtle, so they all rolled in it. Erk. I'll have to go and find it in the morning and cover it up. Bloody buzzards

It's really odd the way that dogs do that! Our little lady found what I assume was a dead badger, (I didn't inspect the remains too closely, just dropped a few heavy rocks on to it). She was in paroxisms of delight and managed to get totally covered in 'yerurch'! Hose pipe and scrubbing brush to the fore!
The other thing is the rather unsavoury habit she has of eating cr*p! The Portuguese have a healy dislike of toilets and seem to enjoy communing with nature up on the hillside above us! Pip eats it!

Kim used to do that dogs are disgusting ;D She also used to rip open bags of cut grass and eat the well fermented stuff at the bottom, so her breath smelt of grassy poo Jess drinks out the bird bath and her breath is rancid, she likes to stand and pant on you with her hot fetid breath, especially when your eating just to put you off so you give it to her instead

Ah, but was it another attempt on you? ...Snowball will sporadically decide that's he's too clean and go roll around in the street. Afterwards he does not seem to understand why nobody lets him onto their beds... ...but these kits at my mom's are differet. One's a paranoid beyond belief and the other is as playful as a sea otter...where oh where has the lapwarmer gene gone?

My sister had a cat called MeToo, (because it was always following her around), this cat was totally paranoid about men. She used to lie in wait under the sofa and if a pair of men's socks walked by: - Powee! A pair of claws deep into your ankle! I'll never forget the day my brother-in-law was found hopping on one foot trying to smash the frenzied feline off his other foot against a table-leg! Do you know, I'm not sure what happened to that cat. Maybe someone dropped it out of the window one day, she lived in a tenth floor flat!

Oh that's mean I'm sure they didn't do that ;D Scruff has a thing about feet, he likes to pounce on you as you go past too Our Great Dane was the funny one though she loved my dads feet, used to pull his socks off so she could lick them and he had athlete's foot at the time. Not sure if that's why she liked it or if her licking caused it ;D
