I know how to make transparent ones... Save as dds and enable transparencies... ...thanks for your help! (luckily all the other stuff I'll be importing is small so I don't have to take each one through MAX and then this...;D)

I've just found this site: www.gamedale.com/modules/articles/Useful 'beginners' tutorials for MS3D. Very basic to begin with, but seems to cover everything important. Not sure if this should go in RedwoodTreeSprite's thread, but as MS3D isn't free . . . . .

Oh Lordy ! More tutorials: This one is extremely large, 140 page help file of how to make a 'lara croft' type model for half life. Deals with concept art, modelling, reducing polycount, unwrapping, and making a texture. Worth a look/download for those of us who are new to this modelling lark. www.dosfx.com/tutorials/csgirl/default.aspThis page: www.planetfortress.com/tf2models/tuto.htmhas tutorials for Max and MS3D, not sure how useful these are.

Wow ...nice finds Regan, and with the finals drawing near, that means I have free time (finals = no homework...and as I never have studied for them...and passed all of them...I'll be pretty free). Just in time...nice job! PS - I wonder, how do you find all of these on dialup?

I hope you find them useful, Bravo Another thing I've discovered is that you can't do alpha enabled stuff in MS3D. Any chance (when I finish it) that you could alpha enable a shield for me in max? Is it easy? P.S. I use Copernic for searches, much better than any online search engine that I've used. At the moment I'm sorting everything out for my business, a lot of online research, pricing etc. so while I'm doing that I can search ( for a bit of light relief!).

Does your business have anything to do with rust ;D I'm just wondering why you hate it Enabling alpha is pretty easy in max, in the material editor you just check standard instead of automatic.

No, hopefully not, as I am/will be doing computer repairs/troubleshooting/devirusing etc. As for the rust, well I drive a late 80s Alfa Romeo which disintegrates if I leave it out in the rain. Nobody's perfect!
I shall get on with this shield then . . . . .

Its finished(ish) ;D the polycount is a bit high but it's only for 1 NPC for half the mod so it'll probably be alright. What format should it be in for import into max?

Alfa Romeo eh? ...were I at my dad's I could look that up. My favorite is a 60s/70s Mercedes with the doors that go up on each side (outward like wings, not parallel to the car like on a Lamborghini). I've always like Alfa Romeos though...is your avatar your dog by any chance?
EDIT: I'd do it, but I've not gotten my MAX 5.0CD back yet...I should get it sometime during Winter Break

Mine's a Sprint Quadrifoglio Verde I think the Merc you like is the 300SL, apparently first produced in '55. Yes, one of my dogs. Better looking than me That would be great Cali, the .7z is a plugin with NIF and 1 texture (which should be translucent). thankyou, thankyou EDIT: isn't this getting a little off topic? Does it matter or can we be relaxed and groovy about it?
