I have come to the conclusion that the thing really screwing up my game are .................mods! Earlier i loaded the game up with nothing but the three master files and the esp i was testing and my fps in balmora went up to 23 compared to 5 I might end up pruning my mods a little, there's quite a few that i don't actually use, just hope it wont cause me to have to restart again

I have taken to making copies of my morrowind.ini file and renaming them to match the mods they load. So now I have a Dragons Breech.ini, a Loth Legacy.ini, a BogStandard.ini, a fpu2sse.ini and a Fireflies.ini. It's so easy just to rename the appropriate .ini file and run with it. Now all I have to do is remember what I was doing in each 'scenario'!

That's such a good idea, Mebyon I'd never even considered doing that, I'd forgotten the modlist was written in the .ini file. This will save hours of scrolling through the data files list and trying to pick out the things I want. I tried out a few old mods with just MW .esm last week and the load time and framerate was incredible. I think we have an urge to push the game as close to a slideshow as possible. If only a few things like BB & FoV were 'plugged in' the game would be perfectly playable. I still don't have BE enabled

You know that scrolling down to the bottom of the Datafiles list and double clicking on a savegame automatically checks all ESMs/ESPs related to it...or do you use different settings too?

Yes, I know, but being the 'I must try this mod out today' person that I am, I'd prefer to have a few 'minimal' .inis for testing. Also I tend to delete my savegames to make the game run faster, at least when loading or saving. Plus it stops me loading one of my 'God Powered' saves.

Well I tried out the FPU2SSE with my Athlon64 system with odd results. Seems the SSE implementation with these chips is mixed with FPU.
I saw a good increase in FPS when indoors up to 10 FPS, things were snappy and felt accelerated. However, heading outdoors results is a slight loss 1-5 FPS over SSE compared to FPU.
Odd... oh BTW this is running at 1600x1200 with 2xAA and 4xAF
