I met a few British soldiers while I was stationed in Berlin. Became friends with a few of them. They were really fun, although there were very few bars they could go to. When I asked about this they told me they sometimes get a little rowdy, things get broken, they get banned, move on to next bar, repeat.
Now, my question, is this something all Brits enjoy doing are is it just the British soldiers?

Naw, I think that army is army, football lunatics are football lunatics and Brits are pretty boring Brits! Now, for sheer persistence in getting cheerfully rat-arsed I don't think anybody can beat Aussies! ;D
(This is the Off Topic thread isn't it?)

Well, I'm glad to hear that paticular behavior belongs to the Brit. Soldiers. I haven't yet had the pleasure of tilting a glass with any Aussies, but now I might have to add that to my "Things To Do" list. Although, if that experience turns out like the one I had when I went out with some Germans, it will not be pretty. They seem to take great delight in drinking Americans under the table It took days to recover

My claim to fame was besting an Irishman at whiskey drinking! ;D
Pretty well behaved hey? Guess that was before the England-France game.

In fact the Portuguese have remarked on how well behaved the English supporters have been, despite the fact that they 'was robbed'! Let's face it 1-0 to England right up to injury time and then to lose two goals in three minutes! ;D
As far a drinking goes. I had an 'experience' in Scotland some time back. I had never been north of the border before and, as a Cornishman, I was well out of my depth. I wandered into a pub in Stirling and asked for "a half of bitter please". A sudden silence fell on the crowd. "A bloody sassenach!", one chap muttered. It turned out to be a Scottish Nationalist pub and it took a deal of talking to explain that "We Cornishmen are Celts, the same as you!" I don't actually remember much of the rest of the evening as they insisted on teaching me the difference between all the various pure malt whiskeys behind the bar. (Something like twenty five varieties!) I have a hazy recollection of waking up in someone's garden, well, a bed of some sort! ;D

Well, Man United seems like winning that way, so I guess you can't really blame the French. As for the Scotsmen, sounds like a really friendly bunch, as well as being my kind of pub, I really like Scotch Single Malts, I'm even a collector of sorts. So, um, since this is OT anyway, who do you support back home? I'm a Crystal Palace fan, and hence really happy they got promoted!

More rugger meself. So Cornwall! As far as footie is concerned I used to look out for Southampton when I lived nearby but can't really get any enthusiasm going for the sport! ;D
BTW Portuguese news tonight showed our tiny brained friends in action, and yes, they were English supporters. Some 200 of them went on the rampage in Albufeira, a seaside resort in the south of Portugal. Some unsymathetic footage of two lads with blood running down their faces. "Me Guv? Not me, I was miles away at the time, in the next country in fact. Broken bottle? Oh THAT broken bottle, you mean the one in my hand? Oh yes, I was on my way to the recycling point wasn't I!" Etc. etc!

You mean it had hooligans roaming the streets throwing chairs through shop windows then too? ;D

Actually there was an argument going on and a bit of push and shove, but that was just my dad and the timeshare salesman ;D

Well in lots of holiday resorts you can buy a share in an apartment which means you get about two weeks a year that you can use it yourself, the rest of the year the other people with a share get to use it for their two weeks.
They are normally a very bad investment as you never get your money back on them.
That man was quite funny as he aproached my dad first while we were looking round the shops, my dad told him in no uncertain terms to naff off, then we all went in a shop, came out and same man aproaches me and my mum, starts to speak then notices my dad come out the shop behind us and shuts up quick ;D

Well, Man United seems like winning that way, so I guess you can't really blame the French. To be strictly fair, the French national team was essentially an English Premier League Football team anyway, seeing as 9 (I think) players on the squad actually play for Arsenal! I was born in Yorkshire, but I support Sunderland because both my parents are from there & football is genetic to Geordies
