I could hardly here the news reporter in portugal just now for all the car horns going off ;D
Then again that may just be a traffic jam and nothing to do with football.

Football, almost definately football. Or a traffic jam caused by football!
Now all Greece has to do is beat or draw to Russia. Even if we lose, Greece will go through if Spain beats or draws to Portugal. If Portugal beats Spain then Greece and Portugal are tie on points, and tied in their match-up, so it will be down to goal difference. Of course that is only IF Greece lose to Russia.
Yay, chances are very good Greece will see the second round! Hellas! Hellas! Woot for the underdog!

Which they did Russia 2 - Greece 1, But that one goal we scored puts Greece on better goal average, knocking Spain out the tournament, and putting Greece through to the Quarter Finals. So a loss, but at least we go through! Next up is most likely against France, which will be a a VERY tough game, I certainly hope Greece plays better against them than they did tonight.

So if spain are out does that mean portugal are through, i saw something about it on the news earlier and they were winning.
Just thinking that Mebyon must have a better time of it if the locals are happy ;D

Yes it does, Portugal go through, and by the looks of it will either play England or Croatia in the Quarters.
Portugal 1 - Spain 0

Score was 2 all after extra time, went to penalties. Bekham performed admirably (and by that I mean he missed a penalty ) Anyway, after six penalties each, Portugal won.

So, for Cali's sake, I'll translate:
Both teams were completely balanced. 1-1 after 90 minutes, 2-2 after extra time, and penalties are just a gamble. Either could have one but one has to according to the rules. The Brits can go home knowing that their team was just as good at the Portuguese and the Portuguese can celebrate, (well it is their party after all!)
I actually think it was the best of all possible outcomes! There are fireworks over our local town in the valley as I type!

I think the Portuguese team played brilliantly, and I'd be happy to support them in their coming matches Having said that of course, I also have to say that the ref deserves shooting for disallowing England's second goal in normal time - there was nothing wrong with that goal! But then, he had highlights in his hair...how can anyone seriously trust a referee who spends that much time beautifying himself? According to a DJ I heard on the radio after the match, Referees are meant to be either bald, or have pudding bowl haircuts Plus, he was from Zurich, which makes him German Swiss - and we all know how much anyone remotely German hates the English winning any footie game, don't we?
