Ive been wanting to make a Zeal like floating continent (ala Chronotrigger) for quite some time now, and I was wondering if there is a way to do this with the landscape editor rather then making a huge static model floating in the sky? Acidbasik4s floating islands are nice but they are not big enough for what I'm thinking of... Im really hoping there is a way to have the player walk underneath it and look up longingly =) Id also want to make it so you couldnt levitate up to it, ala mournhold, but I dont believe its possible for just one area like that? But I also thought it would be neat to have it so that if anyone sees you levitating near them they cast dispell on you so you fall =) I can go into more detail later, but I wanna see if this is possible first.

Also forgot to mention... If it is not possible, would a bunch of huge static islands screw the frame rate etc terribly?

I've never seen AcidBasic's islands. If they are a mod you should be able to load it and get into the editor and muck about with their size.
I read somewhere about killing the levitate ability. Scripting for Dummies? Over to Cali I suspect for this one! If it's in a script then maybe you could have it apparently cast if you are within a given distance of one of the NPCs. It would then appear that they had done the deed!
Sounds do-able to me.

You can make a static larger in editor? in anycase I have the landscape in my head so I would prefer to be able to make it with the landscape editor. That also sounds promising for the lev script =) I want it to be very upper class continent and be very hard to get into.

Another question -- Hopefully Cali can answer it for me being he texturing/CS guru that she is... Is it possible to use an old building mesh but give it new texture but not replace every building of that type? Would be great to know yay or nae. I would like to take the hlaalu and Redoran houses and make them whitish with some blue on them... Kinda more uperclassy =)

Levitation: you can disable player controls for levitation by typing DisableLevitation either in the dialogue results box or a script. Use EnableLevitation to turn it back on.
I use this in my dialogue tut so check out the pdf file in the tutorials section.
Mournhold actually has an editor box with a disable levitation script placed over the whole area. You obviously can't see it in game but if you load a cell in the CS you will see the blue box.
Scaling: Holding the 's' key and moving the mouse backwards or forwards will make an object bigger or smaller.
Textures: Copy the static you wish to use then rename it before applying your new texture, you can use niftexture for that, then load it into the CS. That way you haven't changed the original just created a new one.
How are people going to get in if they can't levitate? The reason i ask is you could always make an interior cell then check the box to behave like an exterior like Mournhold. Then all you would need to see in the game would be the underneath of the island, if people can't levitate it won't matter about it being a fake.

Just ask and it will be given unto you!
I didn't know that about scaling Cali. I thought there was a limit of .5 to 2 in the Editor.
Good question on getting onto the island. How did you plan to get there Tier, a rope ladder might be tricky!

There probably is a limit but i just find that easier than changing the value in the edit box.

Well the main way would be travelling, Ive been thinking it would be kinda nice to lev up to it if no one sees you. But Its not really necessary. I Just thought it would be neat to try and levitate up there and then have someone cast dispell on you and have you fall to your death =p
So Cali, could I put the box around the floating island for example? So you could levitate on the ground underneath the island, but you couldnt fly up to it the whole way? Cuz I would like to have some secret ways up to it.
Mebyon --- But a rope ladder would be ooooh so cool.

Yes, you could just use multiple boxes to build a sort of cage around your island, just line them up like normal statics.
Have fun this weekend ;D

As I read it, you can disable levitate but still have teleport. So an object left lying around on the ground could teleport you up even if there's no other way of getting there. Of course, getting off again is easy, just a slowfall spell and jump!

Yes they are two different things, so you could have an npc who sends you up or a triolith with a switch like the ghostgate. The possibilities are endless really.

I imagined an empty skooma bottle, bit like that tutorial with the bed. The thing is that you don't see much trash lying by the side of the road in Morrowind so it's bound to attract attention. But equipping it wouldn't be something you'd think of right away!

Be a bit of a shock then when you go to have a drink and end up miles from where you started ;D
